Project Overview

Huu-ay-aht First Nations is strengthening how citizen information is managed and protected through a new Database Project.

This work includes developing a modern citizen database alongside a comprehensive data policy to guide how information is collected, stored, and used. Together, these improvements will support more consistent, secure, and respectful handling of citizen data.

As part of the project, Huu-ay-aht is implementing the Build Your Own Data Centre platform, introducing role-based access to enhance data security, and providing training for current and future staff. These steps help build long-term capacity and support knowledge transfer for future generations.

The new system will lead to more accurate records, a smoother citizenship application process, and better-informed program and service planning. By improving how data is organized, staff will be better able to identify community needs and address service gaps.

Overall, this project is an important step forward in strengthening data governance and supporting the well-being of Huu-ay-aht citizens.
