BC RIGC respects the privacy of people who interact with us and collects only the personal information we reasonably need to carry out our work.

Personal information BC RIGC collects

Depending on how you interact with us, BC RIGC may collect information such as your name, contact information, organization, role, communications with us, event or training registration information, newsletter preferences, and information needed to provide services or respond to requests.

Our website may also collect limited technical information needed to operate, secure and understand use of the website.

How we use personal information

We use personal information only for reasonable purposes connected to our work, such as:

  • responding to inquiries and requests;

  • communicating with partners, participants and organizations we work with;

  • delivering events, training, services and resources;

  • managing newsletter and other communications;

  • administering our organizational relationships and operations; and

  • maintaining the security and functionality of our systems.

We limit the personal information we collect and use to what is reasonably needed for these purposes and protect it using appropriate administrative and technical safeguards.

BYODC and First Nations data

This page describes personal information that BC RIGC collects for its own organizational purposes.

It does not govern data that First Nations governments and organizations place in the Build Your Own Data Centre (BYODC). Organizations retain ownership and governance authority over their data in BYODC, and BC RIGC acts as a data custodian. Our handling of those data is governed by the BYODC Terms of Service, applicable Service Agreements, and the BC RIGC Policy and Procedures Manual.

You may contact us to ask questions about how BC RIGC handles your personal information or to request access to or correction of personal information about you that is under our control.

BC RIGC has designated a Privacy Lead responsible for our compliance with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act.
